Iran Executes Alleged Mossad Agent, Babak Shahbazi

Tehran — Tensions between Iran and Israel flared once again after Iranian authorities announced the execution of a man accused of spying for Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad.

The executed man, identified as Babak Shahbazi, was described by Iranian officials as a contractor who specialized in installing industrial cooling systems for sensitive military and security companies. Authorities allege that Shahbazi used this access to pass critical information to Israel.

Iran’s judiciary claimed the execution underscores the country’s zero-tolerance stance toward espionage, particularly when national defense installations are at stake. While details surrounding the trial remain limited, state media framed Shahbazi’s case as proof of what they call “foreign infiltration attempts” targeting Iran’s defense sector.

The move comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with Tehran frequently accusing Mossad of orchestrating sabotage operations and assassinations against Iranian scientists and military officials. Israel has not commented on the execution.
