Police Read Riot Act to Traffic Offenders, Deploy Special Squad
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has sounded a strong warning to motorists against violating traffic rules, particularly the dangerous practice of driving against traffic.
Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, expressed concern over the alarming rise in accidents and gridlock linked to reckless driving. He described the act of driving against the flow of traffic as “a violation of the law and a complete disregard for human life.”
In a decisive move, CP Azare announced the immediate deployment of a Special Surveillance Squad to monitor major roads and hotspots across the state. The squad has been tasked with arresting violators, with impounded vehicles to remain in custody until legal proceedings are concluded.
“The Akwa Ibom Police Command will no longer tolerate this level of recklessness,” the CP declared, stressing that offenders will face full prosecution.
The Command urged the public to obey traffic laws, cooperate with law enforcement, and report offenders to the nearest police station.
