Dangote Refinery Sends Fresh Wave of Petrol to US

The Dangote Refinery has dispatched another three petrol shipments to the United States, just weeks after its maiden delivery, cementing its growing footprint in the global energy market.

Between August 26 and September 4, three vessels set sail from the Lekki-based facility, all bound for New York Harbour. The Gemini Pearl has already offloaded over 42,000 tonnes of gasoline at New Jersey terminals between September 15 and 16. Two others — the Mh Daisen and Seaexplorer — are currently at sea, carrying a combined cargo of more than 82,000 tonnes.

Executive Director of Dangote Refinery, Edwin Devakumar, emphasized that the shipments reflect the refinery’s world-class standards. He noted that the sulphur content of its petrol is tightly controlled between 3 to 6 ppm, while octane ratings meet the strict requirements of New York Harbour.

This marks yet another milestone for Africa’s largest refinery, reinforcing its ambition to not only meet domestic needs but also play a decisive role in international markets.
