Carreras Chooses Madrid: No Plan B for Player or Club

This summer, Álvaro Carreras and Real Madrid had eyes for no one else. The young left-back made it clear—he wouldn’t entertain any other offers, even when Benfica rejected every proposal in June.

For Madrid, the feeling was mutual. The club refused to look elsewhere, with Xabi Alonso insisting Carreras was the only option to strengthen the left side of defence. The deal was sealed with a clever twist: Obrador included as part of the agreement.

A summer of loyalty and single-minded pursuit—Madrid got their man, and Carreras got his dream move.
