Fresh Violence Erupts in Adamawa: Two Feared Dead, 20 Huts Razed in Farmland Dispute

Tension flared in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Sunday, July 7, as a deadly communal clash broke out between the Tsobo community of Waduku and the Bachama people of Rugange, leaving at least two people dead and about 20 thatched huts reduced to ashes.

According to local accounts, the conflict erupted around 10:00 a.m. over a contested piece of farmland, despite a subsisting court injunction barring both groups from any activity on the disputed land.

The clash, which quickly turned violent, claimed the lives of two individuals, while several homes were set ablaze in the ensuing chaos.

In response to the crisis, security operatives were swiftly mobilized to the area to douse tension and restore normalcy. The remains of the deceased were transported to the General Hospital in Numan for post-mortem examination.

A senior police official confirmed the deployment of a unit from the Police Mobile Force (PMF) to maintain law and order. Meanwhile, the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched a covert probe aimed at uncovering the underlying causes of the conflict and identifying those responsible for the violence.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to prevent further escalation as investigations continue.
