By Abdullahi Inuwa
In a swift operation rooted in credible intelligence, operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina State Command, have apprehended three young suspects in possession of cannabis at Kofar Bai Quarters in the heart of Katsina Metropolis.
The suspects — Aliyu Gambo (19), Mustapha Hamza (18), and Musa Lawal (20) — were arrested on Monday, June 9, 2025, by vigilant NSCDC personnel stationed at the Kofar Bai Outpost. Acting on a tip-off, officers stormed an abandoned building where the trio was found with a stash of suspected Indian hemp.
During preliminary investigations at the Command Headquarters, all three suspects reportedly confessed to the crime. They admitted to gathering at the uncompleted structure with the illegal substance, unaware that security operatives had been monitoring the location.
A total of 39 wraps and a large bulk quantity of cannabis were seized during the operation.
State Commandant Aminu Datti Ahmad, fsf, MADM, FCAI, praised the operatives for their prompt response and reaffirmed the NSCDC’s unwavering commitment to tackling drug-related crimes, protecting critical national infrastructure, and ensuring peace across Katsina State.
“The Command will not relent in its efforts to track down drug dealers, economic saboteurs, and all forms of criminality,” Commandant Ahmad declared, while encouraging the public to continue collaborating with security agencies by sharing timely and actionable intelligence.
He also expressed gratitude to the public for their ongoing cooperation, urging citizens to remain vigilant and committed to building a safer Katsina for all.
The suspects are currently under investigation and will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
