Troops of the 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN have successfully thwarted a planned attack by armed militia targeting communities in Qua'an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation, which took place in the early hours of Tuesday, 27 May 2025, followed credible intelligence about an impending assault on Teng and Kayarda villages. Acting swiftly, troops laid an ambush and made contact with the assailants, resulting in the neutralisation of three armed bandits, while others fled the scene.
During the operation, the military recovered four AK-47 rifles, four magazines, and 56 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition. The recovered items are currently in the custody of the troops, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the criminal gang and recover additional weapons.
“This operational success is a testament to the continued efforts of troops to rid the Joint Operations Area of assailants whose activities have been largely frustrated and will be sustained,” said **Major Samson Nantip Zhakom**, Media Information Officer, Operation SAFE HAVEN.
Operation SAFE HAVEN has continued to intensify patrols and intelligence-led operations to maintain peace and security across Plateau and its environs.
