Terrorist IED Blast Kills Four CJTF Members in Borno State

Four members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have been confirmed dead following a roadside bomb explosion along the Marte–Dikwa road in Borno State, Northeast Nigeria.


The deadly incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, May 27, 2025. According to security sources, an improvised explosive device (IED), suspected to have been planted by fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), detonated as the CJTF operatives were travelling in a convoy toward Dikwa.


The blast killed all four victims on the spot. As of the time of filing this report, there were no official details regarding additional casualties or damage to vehicles.


A security response team was promptly deployed to the scene. The remains of the deceased were recovered and transported to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, arriving later that evening around 6:00 PM.


Although no official statement has been released by authorities, family sources confirmed that the victims have since been buried in Maiduguri in accordance with Islamic rites.
