FRSC Sector Commander Pays Courtesy Visit to NDLEA Katsina, Seeks Stronger Collaboration Against Drug-Influenced Driving

In a bid to strengthen inter-agency cooperation and bolster the fight against drug trafficking and abuse on Nigerian highways, the new Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS1.3 Katsina, CC Maxwell K. Lede, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Katsina State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The FRSC boss was warmly received by Commandant Mohammed Abubakar Aminu, CN, at the NDLEA headquarters in Katsina. The visit, part of the Sector Commander’s ongoing familiarization tour, provided a strategic platform for both agencies to explore new areas of collaboration.

During the high-level meeting, both commanders deliberated extensively on joint efforts to curb the menace of drug trafficking and abuse, especially as it relates to road safety and traffic management. Key focus areas discussed included:

  • Intelligence sharing on suspected drug trafficking operations along major routes.
  • Joint patrols and operations aimed at intercepting illicit drug transportation.
  • Capacity-building initiatives to train FRSC and NDLEA personnel in identifying and managing drug-related road offenses.
  • Public enlightenment campaigns to educate road users on the dangers of drug use while driving.
  • Workshops and seminars to boost awareness of drug abuse prevention.
  • Collaborative arrests and prosecutions of suspected drugged and drunk drivers.
  • Data exchange mechanisms to analyze traffic accident trends linked to drug use.
  • Strategic planning to reinforce road safety while dismantling drug networks.

CC Maxwell Lede emphasized that enhancing synergy between the FRSC and NDLEA would not only save lives but also strengthen national security on the highways. “
