Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has given an upbeat update on Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior, noting a visible lift in the Brazilian’s mood.

“Yesterday wasn’t the time to talk to him, but today he seemed more positive and more smiling,” Alonso said. “I spoke with him, not much, we did some individual exercises. We’ll see tomorrow.”

The comments come amid growing attention on Vinicius’ fitness and form, with fans eager to see him return to his dazzling best on the pitch.
