Tragedy in Katsina: Two Killed, 12 Injured as Truck Rams Into Gathering


A quiet evening turned tragic in Jikamshi village, Musawa Local Government Area, when a truck loaded with sugarcane lost control and ploughed into a public gathering, leaving two people dead and 12 others injured.


The accident, which occurred at about 8:45 p.m. on September 17, involved a Mitsubishi Canter with registration number TSF-243-XF. Eyewitnesses said the driver, now on the run, lost control of the vehicle before it rammed into unsuspecting residents.


Security operatives from Musawa Police Division rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area, and evacuated victims to the General Hospital, Musawa.


Medical personnel confirmed the deaths of Mustapha Umar, 38, and Mani Salisu, 34, while 12 others remain under treatment. Some of those who sustained minor injuries have since been discharged.


Authorities have launched a manhunt for the fleeing driver as investigations continue into the cause of the fatal crash.
