The 2025 Justice Sector Leadership Retreat has opened in Maiduguri with a strong call for innovation, technology, and coordinated reforms to strengthen Nigeria’s justice delivery system.

The high-profile retreat, themed “Strengthening Justice Sector Service Delivery through Technology, Innovation, and Coordinated Reform,” brought together Attorneys General from across the federation alongside top judicial stakeholders to chart a new path for efficient, transparent, and people-centered justice.

Speakers at the event emphasized that the adoption of digital tools is no longer optional but critical to addressing Nigeria’s growing legal challenges — from terrorism cases to land disputes, prison congestion, and access to legal aid in rural communities.

The retreat’s agenda highlights the urgent need to streamline judicial processes, fast-track case management, and embrace e-justice systems that will make the courts more responsive to citizens.

According to organizers, the initiative seeks to equip Nigeria’s justice sector with modern tools capable of handling complex issues while ensuring accountability and fairness remain at the heart of service delivery.

By the end of the retreat, participants are expected to outline clear strategies to build stronger institutions and foster collaboration between federal, state, and development partners for sustainable reform.
