FRSC, Katsina General Hospital Strengthen Partnership for Better Care of Road Crash Victims

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Katsina and the Katsina State General Hospital have pledged stronger collaboration to improve emergency response and post-crash care for victims of road traffic accidents.

This commitment was made on Friday, September 19, 2025, when the Sector Commander of FRSC, Corps Commander Maxwell Kaltungo Lede, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Dr. Abdurrahman Muhammad.

While expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Lede praised the hospital’s personnel for their dedication and swift emergency response over the years. He explained that the visit was more than routine courtesy, stressing that the partnership aligns with the UN Decade of Action on Road Safety and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which target a 50% reduction in road crash fatalities by 2030.

“The role of FRSC and medical service providers is crucial in meeting this global target,” Lede said. “Consolidating coordination, especially in timely rescue and hospital response, will go a long way in saving lives.”

Discussions during the meeting highlighted the importance of leveraging the National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (NEMSAS), a Federal Ministry of Health initiative aimed at ensuring quick ambulance responses and quality pre-hospital and in-hospital care.

The CMD, Dr. Muhammad, assured that the hospital would provide first-aid training to FRSC personnel to boost their capacity in handling crash victims before transfer to the hospital. Both agencies also explored the use of the FRSC mobile app to strengthen real-time communication during emergencies.

The partnership, they agreed, would positively transform rescue operations, enhance timely interventions, and significantly improve survival chances for crash victims in Katsina.

Lede appreciated Governor Umar Dikko Radda, PhD, for his passion and unwavering support towards improved service delivery in the state.
