The Chairman Borno State Road Maintenance Agency (BORMA), Engr. Sadu Abdullahi Auno has promised to complete more critical road projects before the end of 2025.

The Chairman made the promise on Friday during an inspection visit to some project sites alongside members of the State House Committee on Works.

Some of the ongoing construction sites visited include the 16.6 km Jos-Damasak road, Damasak-Baga road; 3.4km State Teaching Hospital road network; rehabilitation and dualization of Muhammadu Buhari International Airport road and 1.34km Bolori road and 3.28km drainage network.

"We are out this morning to inspect ongoing projects together with the House Committee members on Works and officials of the Agency. So far, we have visited four road projects which comprised of Jos-Damasak road, Damasak-Baga road ring road; State Teaching Hospital road network, Muhammadu Buhari Airport road and Bolori road and drainage project", Auno said.

"The ring road construction commenced in July 2024, and the earthwork have reached an appreciable level, while that of the Teaching Hospital has reached 80% completion as we will soon start laying the asphalt.

The Chairman BORMA assured that all the construction work is up to standard and in accordance with engineering practice.

He explained that the Mohammadu Buhari International Airport rehabilitation and dualization covers 3.28 km road and 1.1 sq/km single lane and parking space as part of the ongoing effort to upgrade the standard to commence international operations.

"With regards to the rehabilitation and dualization of Muhammadu Buhari International Airport road, the project has reached 80% completion. The dualization covers 3.2km in addition to parking spaces and single lane road that covers 1,100 sq/km,".

"Equally, the road and drainage work in Bolori covers 1.34km of road with a 2.68km side drain and outfall drain of 400 meters, the work is expected to be completed in two months time, insha Allah," he added.

Engr. Sadu Auno further explained that the Agency is currently rehabilitating Womdiyo-Chibok road, which covers about 20 kilometres and other critical road projects.

The oversight visit was led by the House Committee Chairman on Works and Housing, Hon. Abdullahi Buba Abatcha; member representing Ngala State Constituency, Hon. Alhaji Bukar Abatcha and Clerk of the Committee, Alhaji Mustapha Umar.

While those that accompanied the chairman BORMA include the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Babagana Sa'ad: Technical Assistant to the Governor and Directors of the Agency.

The Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Works and Housing and member representing Gwoza, Hon. Abdullahi Buba Abatcha has commended Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for executive critical road infrastructure in the state.

Hon. Abatcha made the commendation while on oversight visits to some ongoing road projects in parts of the Maiduguri metropolis.

"We are here to discharge of our legislative responsibility, which is one of the cardinal functions of a parliamentarian, that is, oversight function. ," Abatcha said.

"I would like to commend His Excellency, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, for fulfilling the promise made during the 2025 budget presentation, which included these critical roads and drainage construction. The governor has transformed the state with this huge investment on road infrastructure," he added

"In addition, the Agency has done a very good job with the money appropriated by the State Assembly. I would like to commend the synergy between Agency and the mother ministry and also Chairman and his management team for the harmonious working relationship,".
