Sting at OOPL: Court Jails Four Internet Fraudsters Nabbed in EFCC Crackdown

A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has convicted and sentenced four internet fraudsters — Bisiriyu Roqeeb Abiodun, Ibrahim Azeez Olatunji, Akinwale Isaac, and Habeeb Oladipupo Oshundairo — after a sting operation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) led to their arrest at a hotel within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) precincts in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The quartet, part of the 93 suspects rounded up in the August 2025 raid, each faced separate charges of impersonation and cybercrime. Court documents revealed they posed as fictitious female identities, foreign nationals, and even revenue service experts to defraud unsuspecting victims online.

Justice D.I. Dipeolu found them guilty after they pleaded “guilty” and the EFCC tendered damning evidence, including their devices, chat records, and bank drafts of restitution.

Despite pleas from their lawyers for leniency on account of being first-time offenders, the court handed down sentences, underscoring Nigeria’s zero-tolerance stance on internet fraud.
