Notorious Robber Falls in Uyo Hideout Bust

The long arm of the law has caught up with Inima Sunday Akpan, a feared cultist and armed robbery suspect, who has been terrorizing Ikot Ekpene and nearby towns.

Police operatives swooped on his hideout in Ibiaku Village near Uyo City Polytechnic on Thursday evening, August 14, 2025, arresting him after weeks on the run.

Recovered from the suspect were a stolen motorcycle (repainted to disguise it), a 32-inch TV, LG home theater, amplifier, and a foam mattress.

Akpan, linked to violent robberies in Ikot Otor, Ikot Uboh, and Ikot Osurua — where a lawyer was shot — confessed to the crimes during interrogation.

Police say investigations are ongoing as the dragnet tightens around criminal gangs in Akwa Ibom.
