Tragedy on Lambata–Suleja Road: Five Dead, Including Naval Officer, in Early Morning Crash

 

A devastating lone accident involving a Toyota Hummer Bus has claimed the lives of five individuals, including a naval officer, along the Lambata–Suleja highway in Niger State.

The crash occurred around 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday near Gwachipe village in the Gawu-Babangida axis. The bus was reportedly on a long-distance trip, transporting 20 passengers from Delta State en route to Sokoto.

According to eyewitness accounts, the driver—identified as Nafiu Bello from Silami Local Government Area in Sokoto State—lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and somersault multiple times.

The impact led to the immediate death of five passengers, one of whom was OS Yahaya Aliyu, a naval officer serving at the Nigerian Navy Base in Sapele, Delta State.

Emergency services responded swiftly, evacuating the bodies to the mortuary at General Hospital Abon-Wuse. Several injured passengers were transported to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Gawu-Babangida for urgent medical attention.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
