Suspected Scam Busted in Ogun: 38 Cameroonians Rescued from Locked House in Mowe

In a shocking discovery, 38 Cameroonian nationals have been rescued from a locked compound in Mowe, Ogun State, after allegedly falling victim to a suspected fraudulent investment scheme.

The rescue took place on July 7 when officers of the Nigerian Police Force, during a routine patrol around the Adesan Abule Afa area, heard unusual noises coming from a building that was padlocked from the outside.

After repeated efforts to gain entry, the police managed to access the premises, where they found 22 men and 16 women trapped inside. All of them were Cameroonians who said they had been deceived into entering Nigeria to invest in a business operation known as “Quinnet.”

According to the victims, they were promised lucrative returns after investing significant sums of money in the venture, only to end up confined and stranded.

One Nigerian suspect, 35-year-old Ndubusi Awareobi from Anambra State, has been arrested in connection with the case and is currently assisting police with their investigation.

Authorities are now probing the details of the operation, including how the victims were recruited and transported into the country.

Meanwhile, arrangements are being made to ensure the rescued individuals receive the necessary support and care while investigations continue.

The police have called on the public, especially foreign nationals, to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of any business offers, urging them to report suspicious dealings to the appropriate authorities.
