Gunmen Invade Herders’ Settlement in Taraba, Kill Livestock in Late-Night Assault

 

Suspected armed men believed to have come from the Bandawa Gwenzo community launched a violent attack on a herders’ settlement in Yompi, located in the Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The attack, which occurred at around 10:45 p.m. on Monday, July 7, was reported by a local resident who revealed that the assailants opened fire indiscriminately upon arrival.

Preliminary assessments indicate that the attack left two cows and eight sheep dead, while an additional four cows and eight sheep were injured.

Security personnel arrived at the scene early Tuesday to evaluate the extent of the destruction and initiate an investigation.

Authorities have begun efforts to track down the perpetrators, urging residents to stay calm and cooperate fully as investigations continue.
