40 Women and Children Rescued from Boko Haram Captivity in Niger State

In a significant counter-insurgency breakthrough, security forces have rescued 40 women and children abducted by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists during coordinated attacks in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State.

The victims were reportedly taken in April 2024 during raids on the communities of Madaka, Allawa, and Sarkin-Pawa. According to intelligence sources, a sustained, intelligence-driven operation carried out earlier this month led to their safe recovery from terrorist custody.

Some of the women, sources revealed, were forcibly married to insurgents and even gave birth while held in captivity.

All 40 individuals—comprising 13 women and 27 children—were safely evacuated and taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), where they are receiving medical attention, psychological care, and undergoing debriefing.

The rescued women include: Zuwaira Ahmed, Zahia Ibrahim, Zainab Sani, Hajara Mohammed, Saratu Garba, Qamariya Ibrahim, Asabe Luka, Hauwa Ibrahim, Tani Ali, Salima Usman, Hauwa Musa, Hauwa Ibrahim, and Murja Salihu.

The female children rescued are: Zainab Mohammed, Maryam Mohammed, Fatima Mohammed, Zainab Janidu, Zulira Umar, Maryam Umar, Nuratu Nura, Ruma Salihu, Nafisa Ibrahim, Ramatu Adamu, Hafsat Isiyaku, Farida Haruna, Rabi Nasiru, and Khadija Basiru.

The male children include: Aliyu Abubakar, Abdullahi Ahmed, Zahidu Abdulrahman, Yusuf Abubakar, Choice Amos, Desire Amos, Ibrahim Mustapha, and Umar Zanaidu.

Security officials emphasized that joint operations are still in progress, with continued efforts to locate
