Troops Neutralize Notorious Terror Leader AUTA, Others in Zamfara Counterterror Raid

Troops of the Mobile Strike Team (MST) deployed under Operation Forest Yakin (OPFY) have achieved a major breakthrough in their counterterrorism campaign in Zamfara State, successfully eliminating a notorious terror kingpin known as AUTA along with several of his fighters.

According to intelligence gathered by Zagazola Makama, the decisive operation occurred on June 10 around Ƙunchin Kalgo town, located within the Kunchin Kalgo District of Tsafe Local Government Area. Among those neutralized were identified terror operatives ABDUL JAMILU and SALISU, who were taken down alongside AUTA during the mission.

The troops reportedly engaged the insurgents in a heavy gunfight and gained the upper hand, resulting in the elimination of several key figures. However, the fate of another wanted terrorist leader, BABAYE, and an unidentified associate remains unclear. While their bodies were not immediately recovered, local sources believe they may have also been killed in the crossfire.

In a separate twist, Sale ADO MADELE, also known as SARKI and the first son of infamous bandit leader Ado ALIERU, narrowly escaped capture. Witnesses said he fled on foot through farmlands as nearby villagers worked their fields, using the distraction to slip away undetected.

Further reports suggest heightened tension within the terror networks operating in and around Ƙunchin Kalgo. Sympathizers of the militants have reportedly begun combing the area in search of BABAYE and other missing members, signaling rising concern among the ranks over the military's mounting pressure.

This operation follows another successful encounter on June 9 at a fuel station in Danjibga. Troops there eliminated roughly ten terrorists believed to be part of a conspiracy led by one Dogo SULE. One of the deceased militants was reportedly interred at the Danjibga cemetery, with funeral arrangements allegedly coordinated by a local figure identified as Alhaji Hamza MKO, on SULE’s instruction.

The recent string of successful strikes underscores the growing effectiveness of joint military efforts to dismantle terror cells across Zamfara State.
