The Sokoto State Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have been directed to be submit their monthly expenditure reports to the Ministry of Budget and Economy Planning.


The Commissioner

Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Abubakar Zayyana, told the newsmen that the request was inline with the state, National and International Public Financial Management standard and best practices.


Zayyana said the practices mandated the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning to review, analyze and consolidate expenditure reports of all MDAs. 


According to him, the aimed of the effort was to ensure compliance with budgetary provision, transparency, accountability and effective fiscal public financial management.


He therefore, urged the MDAs to submit the reports as expected and also to contain their Capital Expenditure, Overhead Expenditure and Personnel Expenditure as well as Revenue generation where necessary.


He noted that similarly, they should ensure standardization of the report and attach reporting template. However, it should be noted that non compliance may affect subsequent budgetary provision and release

.

The Commissioner solicited the cooperation of all the MDAs in this regard is highly appreciated as we work together to strengthen fiscal discipline and accountability determined by the present administration under the leadership of Gov. Ahmad Aliyu.
