Police Foil Kidnap Attempt, Rescue 11 Victims in Daring Night Operation

 

In a daring late-night operation, security forces in Katsina State successfully foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued eleven abducted victims, dealing a major blow to bandits terrorizing the region.

According to a press release from the Katsina State Police Command, the dramatic rescue unfolded around 10:30 pm on June 8, 2025, when a joint team of security personnel—including the Police, Military, DSS, Operation Sharan Daji operatives, Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), and local vigilantes—intercepted armed bandits along the Danmusa–Mara Dangeza road in Danmusa LGA.

The armed criminals, who had abducted victims from multiple locations across the state, were attempting to flee with their captives when the joint team engaged them in a gun duel. Outgunned and outmaneuvered, the bandits abandoned the victims and fled into the bush.

  • Hauwa'u Mujitafa (f, 25), Damawa Village, Kankara LGA
  • Hajara Sani (f, 23), Damawa Village, Kankara LGA
  • Musa Suleman (m, 15), Bakan Village, Musawa LGA
  • Zahariya Nasiru (f, 17), Danmusa LGA
  • Zahara Isah (f, 18), Damawa Village, Kankara LGA
  • Maijidda Fahat (f, 30), Danmusa LGA

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, hailed the operation as a display of "uncommon bravery and commitment" and reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering determination—alongside sister agencies—to crush the menace of kidnapping in Katsina State.

He also called on the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, stressing that community support is key to sustaining security gains.
