Katsina Police Rescue 4-Year-Old Kidnap Victim, Nab Four Suspects

In a major breakthrough, the Katsina State Police Command has rescued a four-year-old girl abducted in the Madaci Yan Nono area of the state capital and apprehended four individuals believed to be part of a kidnapping ring.

The rescue operation followed a distress report filed by one Alhaji Badamasi Bala, whose two daughters—aged 14 and 4—were taken by unidentified assailants on February 20, 2025. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of ₦50 million for their release.

Acting swiftly on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, operatives from the command’s anti-kidnapping squad launched a targeted investigation.

According to a police statement released on Wednesday via X (formerly Twitter), the tactical team initially arrested one suspect. Further investigations led to the capture of three additional suspects, aged 25, 19, and 16. The younger of the two kidnapped sisters—the 4-year-old—was rescued unharmed during the follow-up operations.

The arrested suspects reportedly confessed to the abduction, and police recovered a live round of 7.62mm AK-47 ammunition during the raid.

While the younger child is now safe, efforts are still ongoing to locate the 14-year-old girl and wrap up the investigation.

Commending his team, CP Shehu praised their swift response and dedication. He called on residents to continue supporting the police in combating criminal activities and ensuring public safety.
