“I’m Not Leaving PDP, But PDP Is in Trouble” — Fayose Drops Bombshell After Tinubu Meeting

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has stirred the political waters once again, declaring that while he remains a loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party is in “serious trouble.” This statement came shortly after his closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Fayose, known for his bold and often controversial remarks, did not mince words when speaking to reporters. “I’m not leaving the PDP,” he stated firmly. “But let’s not deceive ourselves — the party is in disarray. We are bleeding internally, and if nothing is done urgently, 2027 will be a disaster.”

The meeting with President Tinubu has sparked speculations about a possible realignment of political loyalties, but Fayose dismissed the rumours, saying his visit was personal and not about party defection. However, his scathing remarks about the PDP's internal crisis have sent shockwaves through opposition ranks.

According to sources close to the former governor, Fayose is deeply concerned about the leadership vacuum and persistent infighting within the party. “We are running a party where nobody listens, and everyone wants to be right. That’s a recipe for failure,” he reportedly said.

Political analysts say Fayose’s warning is a wake-up call for the PDP hierarchy. With the 2027 general elections on the horizon and growing discontent among party faithful, his statement may be the most honest yet painful truth the party needs to confront.

Whether Fayose will remain the PDP’s outspoken conscience or eventually bow to the gravity pulling many into the ruling APC remains to be seen.

One thing is clear — Fayose has once again placed himself at the center of Nigeria’s political drama.
