 In a heartfelt post that lit up social media on Tuesday, Ambassador Istifanus Y. Sani revealed he named his newborn daughter after the mother of Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum — a powerful gesture of admiration and respect for the legacy behind one of Nigeria’s most celebrated leaders.

Posting on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, the diplomat wrote:
"I named my daughter after the mother of our dear governor @ProfZulum @GovBorno @BornoGovt."

The post quickly gained traction, drawing praise from netizens who applauded the ambassador’s tribute to the woman many credit for shaping Zulum’s disciplined and compassionate character.

Though little is publicly known about the late matriarch of the Zulum family, her legacy lives on through her son’s tireless leadership in rebuilding Borno State from the ashes of insurgency. Ambassador Sani’s gesture now adds a personal dimension to the growing reverence surrounding her name.

Observers say the move signals not just personal respect but a broader recognition of the values Governor Zulum embodies—integrity, courage, and an unshakeable commitment to public service.

The Borno State Government has yet to officially respond to the post, but sources close to the governor say he is “deeply touched” by the ambassador’s tribute.
