Former Senator and human rights activist, Shehu Sani, has sparked social media buzz with a witty yet pointed reaction to a trending teachers' protest in Niger Republic.

In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Sani highlighted the unique ultimatum issued by the Teachers Union of Niger Republic, who are threatening to award free marks to students if their demands are not met by the government.

“The Teachers Union of Niger Republic is threatening to give free marks to students if the Government fails to meet their demands,” Sani wrote. “I call on my comrades in ASUU to study this strategy.”

The post, laced with satire and political insight, has triggered mixed reactions online. While some see it as a humorous take on the power of unions in education, others interpret it as a subtle jab at the Nigerian government’s handling of academic sector negotiations.
