Endorsements Won’t Save Tinubu from Defeat – Ndume Recalls Jonathan’s Fall Despite 22 Governors’ Backing

Fiery Borno Senator, Ali Ndume, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot rely on political endorsements to win re-election, warning that public frustration and hardship may override elite support.

Speaking during a media chat in Abuja, Ndume reminded Nigerians how former President Goodluck Jonathan lost the 2015 election despite enjoying the backing of 22 sitting governors and a powerful political machinery.

“Tinubu should remember: endorsements don’t win elections—people do,” Ndume said pointedly. “If the suffering continues, no number of endorsements or praise-singers can stop a voter backlash.”

Ndume’s comments come amid growing economic discontent, spiraling inflation, and widespread criticism of recent policy decisions. With several APC leaders rallying behind Tinubu ahead of 2027, Ndume’s warning cuts through the noise with a sobering reality check.

He emphasized that true leadership means addressing citizens' pains, not banking on political alliances. “The streets are speaking. Nigerians want relief, not rhetoric,” he added.

Political analysts view Ndume’s statement as a bold signal of deep cracks within the ruling party, as some lawmakers grow uneasy over Tinubu's 2027 prospects.

With the political temperature rising, Ndume’s blunt message may echo louder than any endorsement.
