Uyo, May 26, 2025 — In a decisive intelligence-driven operation, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has busted a suspected criminal hideout on Udi Street, Uyo, arresting two suspects and recovering a cache of stolen items.

The raid, which took place at about 1:15 a.m. on May 23, followed actionable intelligence and the marching order of Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare.

The arrested suspects, Babangida Idris Usman and Awalu Abdullahi, are believed to be receivers of stolen goods. Among the recovered items were 14 sewing machine heads and a generator—two of which have already been positively identified by their rightful owners.

Police say investigations are ongoing to trace the origins of other items and dismantle the theft syndicate.

The Command, through its spokesperson DSP Timfon John, reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, while urging the public to continue providing useful information to aid crime-fighting efforts.
