NFF Hails Governor Radda’s Football Legacy, Pledges More Support for Katsina
Katsina, April 3, 2025 – The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has identified football as a key tool in combating drug abuse and crime among youths. This was emphasized during a condolence visit to Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, Ph.D., CON, following the passing of his mother, Hajiya Safara'u Umaru Bare-Bari.
NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau led a delegation to Katsina, where he commended Governor Radda’s unwavering support for football development in Katsina and Nigeria at large. The delegation also visited His Royal Highness, the Emir of Katsina, and the Governor’s wife, expressing their condolences and appreciation for the Governor’s contributions to sports.
Governor Radda reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment through football, emphasizing its role in steering young people away from social vices. He also prayed for the success of the U-20 national team as they prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations in Cairo.
In recognition of his dedication, the NFF honored Governor Radda, DG Dikko Sports Movement Abubakar Sani, and Katsina State FA Chairman Aminu Balele Dan Arewa for their relentless efforts in advancing football in the state and beyond.
The NFF President further hinted at plans to bring the Super Eagles to Katsina for training camps, underscoring Katsina’s growing influence in Nigerian football.
As the football community mourns with Governor Radda, the NFF prays for the late Hajiya Safara’u Bare-Bari, seeking divine blessings for her and her family.
