Brig Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam: Governor Buni’s Trusted Hand on Security Tightens Grip on Peace in Yobe

In the face of evolving security challenges across the country, Yobe State continues to stand firm—thanks to the steady leadership of Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd), the Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters to His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni.

A retired military officer with decades of experience in combat strategy and intelligence coordination, Brig. Gen. Abdulsalam has become the unseen force behind Yobe’s strengthened security architecture. Since his appointment, he has reengineered grassroots intelligence networks, fostered collaboration between local vigilante groups and federal security agencies, and introduced proactive strategies that have drastically reduced insurgent incursions and cross-border criminal activities.

Speaking on his role, Abdulsalam noted, “His Excellency Governor Buni gave me a clear mandate—to secure every inch of Yobe soil, and that is what I’m committed to doing with the support of our dedicated security teams and community stakeholders.”

Under his strategic direction, rural communities once plagued by insecurity are now experiencing a resurgence of economic and social life. With increased patrols, rapid response units, and community engagement sessions, Yobe State has become a model of resilience and security reform in the North-East.

Governor Buni, who described Abdulsalam as “a disciplined patriot and a pillar of our peace strategy,” continues to place high priority on the safety of citizens—demonstrating that leadership backed by experience and commitment can deliver real change.

With Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam at the helm of Yobe’s security advisory, residents are sleeping with both eyes closed—and the state’s future looks even more secure.
