IGP Flags Off Zulum’s Distribution of 110 Vehicles, 280 Houses to Security Forces

Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has once again reinforced his administration’s commitment to security by distributing 110 brand-new operational vehicles, 500 motorcycles, and 280 modern housing units to security agencies in the state.

The official launch, which took place on Friday, March 14, 2025, was flagged off by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), underscoring the critical role of security in Borno’s rebuilding efforts. The initiative aligns with Zulum’s broader strategy of strengthening security infrastructure, boosting operational efficiency, and improving the welfare of personnel who risk their lives daily to protect citizens.

During the event, Governor Zulum handed over 60 Toyota Hilux vans to the Nigeria Police, enhancing their response capacity to security threats across the state. Recognizing the Nigerian Army’s crucial role in counterinsurgency operations, the governor approved an additional 50 Hilux vans and 500 motorcycles to facilitate troop mobility, particularly in difficult terrains.

Beyond mobility support, Zulum addressed the long-standing challenge of accommodation for security personnel by allocating 280 newly built housing units to officers of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies. The modern houses are designed to provide comfort and stability, ensuring that security personnel serving in Borno have dignified living conditions.

Speaking at the launch, the IGP commended Governor Zulum for his proactive leadership and consistent support for security forces. He emphasized that the provision of operational vehicles and housing would significantly enhance law enforcement efficiency, improve officer morale, and strengthen counterinsurgency efforts in Borno State.

Governor Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to security, stating that no meaningful development can take place without peace. “Our men and women in uniform make enormous sacrifices to keep Borno safe. This intervention is a token of appreciation for their service and a necessary investment in our collective security,” he said.

Security experts have hailed the initiative as a game-changer in Borno’s ongoing battle against insurgency and crime. The newly acquired vehicles and motorcycles will enable swift deployment of security forces to flashpoints, while the housing project will serve as a long-term incentive for officers serving in the state.

Over the years, Governor Zulum has been at the forefront of rebuilding Borno’s security architecture, complementing military efforts with civilian joint task forces, intelligence support, and infrastructural rehabilitation. His administration’s approach, which integrates security with governance and social development, continues to earn widespread recognition.
