The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Borno State Chapter, Most Rev. Dr. John Bogna Bakeni, has extended warm greetings to the Muslim community in Borno State and beyond as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.


In a statement, Most Rev. Bakeni described the occasion as a time of devotion, sacrifice, and spiritual renewal, marking the successful completion of Ramadan. He prayed for Allah’s blessings upon the Muslim faithful, urging all citizens to uphold justice, unity, and peaceful coexistence in the state and the nation at large.


“As we celebrate, let us use this opportunity to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood across religious lines. While we share in the joy of the festivities, we must also remember the less privileged in our communities, extending kindness and support to those in need,” he said.


The CAN chairman also condemned the gruesome killing of Muslim faithful in Uromi, describing it as a senseless and inhumane act. He called on the government and security agencies to ensure justice is served and that those responsible are held accountable.


“Such acts of violence have no place in a civilized society. We urge authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that justice is served. May Allah grant Aljanna Firdaus to the departed souls and provide comfort to their grieving families,” he added.


Rev. Bakeni urged all citizens to embrace peace, reject violence, and work towards a society founded on mutual respect and understanding.
