Buni to Honour Yobe Teens for Global Triumph in London

In a proud moment for Yobe State and Nigeria, Governor Hon. (Dr) Mai Mala Buni CON, COMN, has approved a grand state ceremony to honour 17-year-old Nafisa Abdallah and 15-year-old Rukayya Muhammad Fema, following their exceptional victories at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, United Kingdom.

Nafisa emerged World Best in English Language Skills, while Rukayya clinched top spot in Overall Debate – outshining over 20,000 participants from 69 countries.

Both students are enrolled at Nigerian Tulip International College under Governor Buni’s full scholarship programme, which covers 890 Yobe indigenes currently benefiting from top-tier education.

“This is a great honour to Yobe State and Nigeria,” Governor Buni said in a statement by Mamman Muhammad, Director General, Press and Media Affairs. “Their success justifies our investments in education.”

The Governor emphasized that his administration remains committed to ensuring every child has access to quality education. He highlighted the state’s massive reconstruction of schools damaged by insurgency, provision of learning materials, laboratory equipment, and recruitment of qualified teachers.

Governor Buni also appealed to parents for their support, noting that the educational revival is still a work in progress.

Yobe State currently has about 40,000 students on government scholarships pursuing various courses in Nigerian and foreign tertiary institutions. Just months ago, the state celebrated 167 graduates of the scholarship programme who completed degrees in medical sciences, computer science, and engineering from universities in India.

With this latest international win, Yobe is proving itself a rising star in global academic excellence.
