Air Commodore Jibia Salutes Troops’ Bravery, Credits Operational Gains in Northwest to Personnel's Dedication

The Commander of the 213 Forward Operating Base of the Nigerian Air Force in Katsina and the Joint Air Component Commander for Operation Fagan Yamma, Sector 2, Air Commodore Ibrahim Jibia, has attributed the recent successes in the battle against banditry in the Northwest to the courage and commitment of military personnel.

Speaking during a special Eid-el-Kabir luncheon held in honour of troops deployed in the theatre of operations at the Air Force Base in Katsina, Jibia emphasized that peace is steadily returning to Katsina and other parts of the region because of the unwavering dedication and bravery of the armed forces.


“Our personnel have demonstrated exceptional courage and selflessness, which have been crucial in restoring stability to the Northwest,” he stated.


Highlighting the contributions of the Air Component under Operation Fagan Yamma, Jibia noted that the Nigerian Air Force has played a vital role in joint anti-banditry operations by delivering precision air strikes, conducting tactical airlifts, and supporting intelligence-gathering missions.


“In recent months, our intensified aerial campaigns have significantly weakened terrorist elements in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Katsina States. These coordinated strikes have disrupted enemy logistics, dismantled command networks, and curtailed their operational freedom,” he said.


Air Commodore Jibia praised the resilience and professionalism of airmen and women who have remained steadfast despite challenging field conditions. He said their tireless service has made it possible for displaced communities to begin returning to their homes.


“You are the reason many families are seeing hope again. Your sacrifices are directly rebuilding Katsina and the larger Northwest region,” he added.


He also paid tribute to fallen officers, acknowledging their supreme sacrifice and urging personnel to carry on their legacy with renewed determination. “May Almighty Allah grant them eternal rest and strengthen their loved ones. Their memory must inspire us to see the mission through to full peace and stability.”


While acknowledging the progress made so far, Jibia stressed that the mission is not yet over. “We must remain alert, united, and focused. Victory will only come through continued discipline and cooperation,” he urged.


The Eid celebration was attended by top government officials, including the Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasir Mu’azu, who represented Governor Dikko Radda.


In his remarks, Mu’azu expressed the Governor’s deep appreciation for the efforts of security agencies. “Governor Radda is committed to ensuring the safety of every citizen and remains thankful for the relentless work of the security forces,” he said.


As part of the event, the Governor’s representative also interacted with several pilots involved in frontline missions, commending their bravery in tackling insecurity in the region.


Air Commodore Jibia further expressed gratitude to the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, praising his transformative leadership and continued support, which have strengthened the Air Force’s operational capabilities.
