PDP Blasts Tinubu Govt Over Sealing of Party HQ, Describes Move as ‘Brazen Abuse of Power’

Abuja – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration following the sealing of its National Secretariat in Abuja by security operatives, calling the action a “brazen abuse of power and a dangerous assault on democracy.”

In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday, the opposition party accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government of using state machinery to intimidate and suppress political opposition.

“This is nothing short of political intolerance taken to dangerous extremes,” the PDP declared. “The unlawful sealing of our national headquarters by armed security agents is a direct attack on democracy, freedom of association, and the spirit of multi-party politics.”

Eyewitnesses say heavily armed personnel from the Nigeria Police Force cordoned off the Wadata Plaza headquarters early Monday, barring staff and party officials from entering.

While no official reason has been publicly provided for the action, party insiders describe it as a calculated attempt to disrupt internal party activities and instill fear ahead of the 2027 elections.

The PDP warned that such “dictatorial tactics” risk plunging the country into constitutional crisis and vowed to resist “any attempt to silence the voice of the opposition.”

As tensions mount, civil society organizations and prominent political figures are beginning to weigh in, calling for an immediate reversal of the action and a return to democratic norms.
